As an anti-Facebook crusader, this blog is my alternative for keeping in touch with family and friends. Note: You have to press Play twice to play a video: Once to load the video and then again to actually play it. Use the Older Post(s) link to view posts in reverse chronological order.

อ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยยางมีหลายแห่งในประเทศไทย
I don't know why it's such a popular name, but there appear to be several Huai Yang Reservoirs in Thailand. This one is my local here in southwest Nakhon Ratchasima, not far from Suranaree University of Technology. There's another one northeast of ปักธงชัย / Pak Thong Chai, maybe 10 kilometers away, that I haven't been to yet. That will be fixed.

Death Race 2025.
Remember the David Carradine (of Kung Fu fame) movie Death Race 2000? I don't, but I do remember the title. And that is what I thought about when I decided to ride my little Yamaha Exciter 155 from โคราช / Korat to บุรีรัมย์ / Buriram. It's about 125 km. It took about two hours plus each way.
The weather was unusually good. It was not hot, which is extremely rare here. The ride itself was not fun. The scenery was not great. The danger factor was extraordinarily high. But I had to do it, and I did, and I survived--again. I have no idea why, throughout my life, I have presented myself with these kinds of stupid challenges.
The best thing to come out of completing this challenge is that I have no desire to ever do this kind of distance again on my little Yamaha. I guess I'm glad I got it out of my system. If you're ever in บุรีรัมย์ / Buriram, I can recommend the french fries at the Afrika Bar & Restaurant.

วัดศิมาลัยทรงธรรม / Wat Simalai Songtham.
As you can imagine, there I was thinking, "Oh, great. Another boring-ass temple." But I really liked this one. It was almost like a fort you would have built with your neighborhood buddies back in the day, built straight up the side of a hill, though.
Trigger warning: If you don't like frightening imagery, get out of here now. There's some pretty weird shit up there on the top levels. I like looking at it, but I would not want to spend the night in there.
