Sanitarium Trip results: The numbers.

With the Sanitarium Trip completed as of 20220920, it's past time to look at the numbers (20220924). Weighed in this afternoon at 80 kg, down from 85 kg before the trip. Kilometers and steps per day are listed below. You'll see them decreasing since my return to Thailand on 20220920 (left side of chart).

I did my first mall walking today (Sep. 24th), and I'll be doing more. It's the one thing I can think of to maintain some physical activity until the hot and sticky rainy season ends.

Plenty of water in Lam Takhong Reservoir...

Looks like there's plenty of water in à¹€à¸‚ื่อนลำตะคอง / Lam Takhong Reservoir this year. Scarred by many drought years, I am grateful for that.

Your boy did some serious gut reduction over the last month.
The question is how to maintain healthiness if I can't walk 10 km per day outside.

Chance of rain...

It looks like it's going to rain pretty much every day from now until the end of the rainy season. I came back knowing I would have to tough it out for a couple of weeks more. It's not all bad. 24 degrees at 17:21 is a very good temperature for here.

Motorcycle: Use it or lose it.

I didn't ride my motorcycle for a month while I was in Korea. The wasps decided to build themselves a nest under the end cap of my motorcycle exhaust. I had at least two other unidentified critter nests on my wheels, one each front and back. One of the two bicycles had a wasp nest as well, this one located on the inside of the big sprocket.

Toad the Wet Toad

Seeing a lot of toads here in the housing complex during the rainy season. There are certainly plenty of bugs to feast on.

Souvenirs from Korea

Not exactly your typical souvenirs, but my kind of souvenirs, I guess. Here's the haul:

Flying out of Incheon International Airport

Monday, 20220919, the end of the trip. Time to fly out of Incheon International Airport.

As it turns out, Incheon was exactly the perfect location to build the airport. It has always been, and must always remain, the entry point to Korea. All Ways Incheon!!!

Last meal in Korea. Not so good.

Back was already tweaked and ready to go out at any moment.
This luggage cart saved the day.

Looking south from Gyeyang Station, where you catch the train to the airport.

I did at least three self-tests for Covid during the trip, maybe four.

Incheon Chinatown, Freedom Park, Sinpo area

Because of Typhoon Nanmadol, today was a very hot and sticky day. No adjustment to the weather will be required when I return to Thailand. It is exactly like this every day.

I got out of Incheon Station, which is the western terminus of subway line #1, thinking I would walk over to Wolmido, which is like the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for Incheon. I even started walking that way, but turned back towards Chinatown hoping to find a drugstore.

I floated up the hill, through a Chinatown gate, through another cool-looking gate up some stairs, along a walkway, and then, there I was--right at General MacArthur's statue. I guess I was supposed to end up there because there was no plan. I was in the same spot I was in forty-plus years ago.

I left Freedom Park after completing a loop around the hill and headed toward the drugstores that a nice lady told me about. Never saw them. Asked another nice lady. Walked towards those drugstores. Never saw them. Kept walking, hoping to get to a non-tourist area where there's a drugstore on every corner. Found myself heading toward Sinpo Market so I went with it--sort of. I went to a shopping district in the Sinpo Market area. No drugstores. But I found a Cafe Pascucci, where I was able to sit in the air conditioning for a bit, enjoying a decent iced tea.

Walked back to Chinatown in the 31-degree / feels like 36-degree weather, looked at the exposed (no shade) road to Wolmido, looked at Incheon Station, and for once I made the decision to be kind to myself. "I'll stop at HomePlus and get some food. Go back to the room. Take a shower. Rest. And then go back out again later when it's cooler."

Got back to the room about 17:00. It never got much cooler. And I never left the room. Did a bit of research on the logistics for tomorrow night when I fly from Incheon to Bangkok. This trip is coming to an end, and that's alright.

What's going on in the Ganseok neighborhood as of 20220918.

I think this place may be out of business in the Ganseok area...

Navy Lt. (j.g.) David Swenson is still remembered.
He lost his life aboard DD-729, the USS Lyman K. Swenson.
Wolmido was not always an amusement park.
During the Battle of Incheon in 1950,
there was a Korean People's Army artillery regiment firing from Wolmido.

I think I saw a Grand Opening sign on this Thai restaurant in the Sinpo area.

A few old style houses surviving...

Hello, General MacArthur.
It's very good to see you again, my old friend.

This rose garden has a great rose garden smell.

More climbing up stairs.
You would think I learned my lesson yesterday at Gyeyangsan, but nope.
