Songdo Moonlight Festival Park and environs

Didn't want to waste my time in 인천 / 仁川 / Incheon, so it was off to the southern terminus of the #1 subway line, Songdo Moonlight Festival Park, quite late at maybe about 20:00. I went the wrong way exiting the subway station, but that may have been the best part of the trip. The scene is otherworldly, with huge apartment blocks rising up to the sky. It feels like being on another planet, but it works. I could live there.

Regarding the Songdo Moonlight Festival Park itself, I finally found it thanks to some timely assistance from an older gentleman on a bicycle. It was right in front of my eyes, but so nondescript that I couldn't imagine it being any kind of a moonlight festival park. I walked around a bit, taking a brief tour of the empty plaza used for concerts. I'm told that there are some better, more exciting parts of the park, somewhere along a river, but that's for another trip.

My old neighborhood 24 years later

Since I left my old neighborhood in 1998, the Seoul suburb Haengsin-dong has gotten better and better. The mud trails I walked on are now fully realized walking paths in nicely wooded areas. Lots of green space in that sea of apartment buildings. I believe I found both of my former apartments. Both buildings still look good.

The only downside is that the rice fields I used to walk around in are now a huge KTX train yard, but they had to put it somewhere, I guess. Excellent transportation from Haengsin to just about anywhere you need to go, so I'm not going to complain.

Spent most of the day in the National Museum

I got there about noon, and I didn't leave until 19:00. That was a long day in a museum, but worth it. As I looked at ancient artifacts discovered in Pyongyang, Hamhung, and other places, one thought kept coming to mind: This is one country.

Google Fit is totally unfit for healthcare duty.

Let me state clearly that Google Fit is totally unfit for healthcare duty. It cannot and should not be trusted for measuring heart points as of 20220913. Google might not be willing to tell you, but I am. Heart points measurement is not stable. Sometimes it does not work properly at all.

Exhibit A. Today, I did 18,000 steps, 11.6 km, and climbed to the top of a 296-meter mountain. For that, stingy-ass Google Fit awarded me a grand total of 12 measly heart points.

But for proof of failure, look at what happened next. I wasn't satisfied with my numbers, so I did another big, long walk, getting up to 20,000 steps and 13 km. How much did the heart points increase? Zero. F-ing zero. Google Fit is broken. It does NOT measure heart points correctly.
