I salute all the people who made 청계천 / Cheonggyecheon happen.

It takes brave, persistent people to overcome the legions of naysayers. Here in Seoul, this wonderful group of nature boys and nature girls did the right thing. They dug up the concrete, and put the 청계천 / 淸溪川 / Cheonggyecheon stream right back where it used to be.

I had the opportunity to walk a long stretch of the Cheonggyecheon today. Other countries!!! Other megalopolises!!! You must learn from Seoul's example. This is how it is done.

Not much of a sunset on this rainy evening.

I walked a very long way up the Cheonggyecheon path to go to HomePlus.
Who could have imagined that all HomePlus stores in the Seoul area are closed every 2nd and 4th Sunday?
(Everybody who lives here...)

Dongdaemun History and Culture Park/Museum/Design Plaza on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the day after Chuseok

Having toured it at night by the light of the full Chuseok moon, I felt the need to return in the daylight hours. I tip my hat to the Korean people. Everything changes here always. But they do a great job of preserving the past, and of protecting their beautiful land.

Went back to the Uzbek bread with lamb filling for breakfast.
It makes me feel as strong as a billy goat.

Light tower still where it was at Dongdaemun Stadium.

Dongdaemun History and Culture Park/Museum/Design Plaza on a full moon Chuseok night

Wow! Dongdaemun History and Culture Park/Museum/Design Plaza is truly excellent. There I was wondering around on a full moon Chuseok night, just like some folks were doing 1500 years ago. You can feel the history.

이태원에서 삼각치까지 / From Itaewon to Samgakchi

I took a little afternoon stroll through Itaewon and on down to Samgakji Rotary. Some things are still there. Others are not. In the end, one little stroll through there was enough. The only reason for me to go back that way is if I make it over to the National Museum. For that, I'll use Ichon Subway Station, which is not that close to Itaewon or Samgakji. But it is close to the Han River Park that I haven't been to yet...

Always watching over you and me, the one and only Namsan Tower.

Waiting... Still waiting...

I don't think a cap that says "foreigner" is necessary.
I think my shiny bald head handles the job quite well.

Still there.

The baklava was excellent.
It served as my moon cake for the 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Turkish tea was surprisingly weak.
Maybe it was just that shop?

I'm on the hunt for a great song I heard on the radio.
I think this is the right singer.
Not sure about the song...

Found a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Itaewon.
It's okay, but nothing special like the one I found near Dongguk University.

We're going vertical...

End of the line for Stompers.

Grand Ole Opry is still there.

King Club is still there!!!

There used to be a Denny's on the second floor where A Twosome Place is now.
I used to perch up there with a cup of Lipton black tea.

Itaewon Subway Station

Hamilton Hotel is still there.

Breakfast. Uzbek bread with beef filling.

On Chuseok Day, the streets of Seoul belong to me and a few other tourists.

Seoul city streets are pretty much empty--as they should be--on Chuseok Day 2022. Most shops are closed for the day. Good for them. I guess I should be out and about taking advantage of the empty streets, but not much movement yet by me. I seem to have been caught up in the slowdown.

Euljiro on Chuseok Day

Today it's beef.
Yesterday was lamb.
Thinking about cheese for tomorrow...

Thank you, drivers of Thailand.

I did not imagine that I owed the drivers of Thailand a debt of gratitude. But I do. Thank you, drivers of Thailand for teaching me to accep...
