안목 커피 거리 / Anmok Coffee Street

If you were to skip Anmok Coffee Street, it would be a mistake. It sounds like a tourist thing, and maybe it is, but it's much more than that. I drank not a single cup of coffee, but I greatly enjoyed seeing Kangneung Port, the red lighthouse, the ocean, and 죽도봉 / Jukdobong.

There's some kind of building for Jinro soju aficionados.
The dancing toads seem a bit misleading.
Rather than their happy little dances, they should do some kind of sickly death dancing.
That's how you're really going to feel in the morning.
Don't believe me?
Look at the bottom of the bottle cap (clear bottle) when you finally wake up the morning after.

But for lack of a stamp, I would have mailed a postcard via this Slow Post.
It's a very cool idea.

My own private pavilion on this day.

Jukdobong entrance. Run this way in case of tsunami...

Gangneung-Wonju National University area

I thought, "Let me walk on up there." And I did. And it was hot. And it was far. It might be the day that I really damaged my right foot. But it may have been worth it. On the way back, I flowed down along the ridgeline using tiny streets and alleys. Maybe I was channeling the spirit of those from 1500 years ago, following the true lay of the land, before all these vehicles, streets, and highways. For that one walk, I tuned in, and it was good.

Proud alkies?

That's my empty Sponsor bottle. It was much needed on this hot day.

Limes are available at Khun Mart.

Various bottles of cooking liquids too.
("cooking liquids" says the guy who doesn't cook...)

I really want to do this. Who's up for it?

If there's a school, there's a pedestrian bridge.
This is a hint for other countries.
I'm looking at you, ********

Genius. You don't have to stand in the hot sun while waiting to cross the street.
